Divine Direction – Faith To Start

Hey hey hey (think Fat Albert…I loved that cartoon as a kid)!

Man, I love my church!  It fills my tank back up from the week of the world that can sometimes empty that tank and really gets me thinking.  I had a very rough week, but God has kept me afloat (albeit knots in my stomach) and continues to put scripture and people of faith in my life that remind me that His love is real and endures all.   Even though I have been a born again Christian since I was 13 years old,  I haven’t grasped the true power and love of God, well into my adulthood.  I have continued to try and make decisions all on my own and rely on my own intellect or wisdom that I have gained along the way vs relying on the Holy Spirit that has been given to me for this ultimate guidance.  I have put my focus on people, places, and things of the world vs building the most important relationship of all and that is with God and His son and the Holy Spirit.   As I was dealing with my week from hell,  I had important people in my life mentor me in what I know was God ordained.  I still feel like I even lack the skills necessary to pray properly and this is the advice that I was given, “You talk to Him like He is your best friend.  Tell Him what you are feeling.   Ask Him why?  Ask Him to help you understand why you’re going through what you are.  What does He want you to see in this?  Ask Him to help you get through it.”   Furthermore, it was suggested to me that I follow ‘marcusstanley’ on Instagram which lead me to his post that stated, “Sometimes you have to be willing to hurt for the things you’re praying for.   The blessing may not fall in your lap, you may have to run towards it.  What you’ve been praying for may not come with the process you hoped for, but it will be greater than you ever imagined. ”  This ties into my post Divine Direction -Trust The Process.

So this week at church as they continue the series Divine Direction, the focus was having the FAITH TO START. Here are the notes from church….

There are 3 recommendations for this.

  1. Start Small. (whatever that may be in your life that you’re trying to decide on)
  2. Take the next step.  Trust the process. Evaluate daily and take the next step.
  3. Don’t give up! Seek God through the struggle.

“You will overestimate what God will do through you in the short run; but you will vastly underestimate what God will do through a lifetime of faithfulness!!” – Craig Groeschel

The decisions you make today will determine the stories you tell tomorrow.

  1. If I could start one thing and know I could not fail, what would it be?
  2. What is the one thing God is leading me to do?
  3. What’s the small way I need to start?

Accompanying scripture…

Genesis 6:7&9, 13-15, Joshua 1:9, Zechariah 4:10, James 4:13-16, Galatians 6:9, Psalms 119:105

I would love to hear from you and how your faith impacts your life!  What would you LOVE to have the faith to start (or stop) if you KNEW you wouldn’t fail???  I know for me, I am having the faith to start a blog! 🙂
