Divine Direction – Trust The Process

It’s Sunday and that means a new sermon summary! 🙂 I hope everyone has had a wonderful week and having a safe and fun filled Labor Day weekend!

The current series that my church is in is all about the decision making process. Today, it’s about trusting the process led by God.

Acts 20: 22-24, 2 Corinthians 11:24-25
1. Spirit’s Prompting
And now, compelled by the Spirit, I am going to Jerusalem. Acts 20:22
*How do you really know if the prompting is from God

2. Certain Uncertainty
…I am going to Jerusalem, not knowing what will happen to me there… Acts 20:22

3. Predictable Resistance
I only know that in every city the Holy Spirit warns me that prison and hardships are facing me. Acts 20:23
*This resistance builds your faith as you trust the process
*Resistance and hardship is not a sign that it’s not God’s will, it’s more a sign you’re exactly where God wants you to be.

4. Uncommon Confidence
However, I consider my life worth nothing to me; my only aim is to finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me – the task of testifying to the good news of God’s grace. Acts 20:24
*We all want and need more of this.

*Paul’s confidence comes from focusing on God’s plans and not his own. He surrendered his life and well being and his significance to follow God. Following God’s plan is the right plan.

*God says, I will never leave you for forsake you. He doesn’t say it will be easy.

*We are masters of self deception.

*It’s the Why before the What. Why are we doing something.

Experience today’s message
Apply what you learned today:

Have I experienced the Spirit’s prompting? How did I know? What did I do?
Read Acts 20:22. What was Paul uncertain about? How did the uncertainty affect his decision? What can I learn from Paul?
How is the Spirit prompting me? What resistance might I face if I follow? What’s my next step?
